They obviously talked about this in advance, and decided that they would let him talk, because they didn’t have a choice, but they wouldn’t engage. Answer his questions with as little as possible, and don’t ask anything back. Don’t give them anything he can use as propaganda, no kissing his ass, praising him for his great leadership in getting America back in space, etc.

They were so committed to the bit, that when he ran out of steam, they just let him twist in the wind.

    Glorious.

I would have been teary eyed too. Travelling as far as you can and still hear that asshole come out of the speakers. I would demand a refund.

Also, Trump referring to Jeremy Hansen:

And the 4 brave astronauts of Artemis II are our modern-day, you really are modern-day pioneers, all of you. And one of them happens to be a neighbor. You know who that is, right? You have a special person over there, a neighbor. And, uh, we like our neighbor.

Apparently they just let Trump talk and didn’t respond for a full minute and Trump was like “anyway you’re the best” and they still didn’t respond and Trump’s people ended the call.

The astronauts gave him the silent treatment. They could clearly hear him.

I watched it live, they did respond to his direct questions, but at some point Trump went into a monologue that didn’t end in a question, and they didn’t say anything back, keeping a silence going for an awkward amount of time until Houston asked if they are still on the line and they confirmed that yeah they heard everything. And said nothing else.

Nah other way around. The astronauts asked a NASA administrator if they are still on the line or if there was a handover. Then Tump replied “I am, yes, I am”.

I wouldn’t have gone to the moon if I were them. You know they’ll have to meet the president after they get back. It’s not worth it.

That parts not that unusual. The really funny part to me is when they asked for a com check, Trump responded that he was still there. Usually when we ask for a com check someone says they can hear you, coms are fine, something like that. That’s my experience with it anyway.

Did the ‘enlightened, very intelligent, definitely not MAGA’ astronauts use their platform to say something about Gaza or the war in Iran?

What an idiotic move it would be to potentially piss off a powerful man-child leading a nation while you’re dependent on an agency of that nation to get back to civilization.

I literally can’t think of a worse position to speak up against Trump than on a NASA mission in space. Maybe the men’s toilet on one of how rallies? But you’d probably easily survive that.

Surely the opportunity to make such an important message to a global audience would trump the personal safety of 4 guys careers to anyone with half a conscious.

That’s how you turn Artemis into an IPBM project. You have to tow the line in situations such as this.

It’s not just careers on the line here. And that to say something just so all the people who need to hear it immediately get back into the brainwash machine again 5 minutes later to listen to thousands of hours of billionaire-controlled media? That’s worth it?

What’s he going to do, cancel their mission in space? The whole thing is programmed, they’ll just come home like always. Do you really think that if Trump screamed “I hate them! Leave them in space to die!” that the NASA operatives would just go along with it - “Sorry guys, the boss says No. It was nice knowing you?”

Of course not. They would completely ignore that order, and bring them home anyway. And if somehow that wasn’t possible, we aren’t the only people in space. It would be a great propaganda coup for some other country to go up and rescue them instead.

They had all the leverage in the world to put in some words againt their god-king but chose not to. Imagine Trump ordering the NASA to leave them stranded there because he didn’t like what they said, that would be something the eurogoons couldn’t even ignore and opens up the possibility that anyone else, let’s be real only China could, rescues them and scores a huge diplomatic win.

Completely agree with what you said.

it was the best platform they will ever have to speak up against Trump, if they didn’t do it it’s because they’re aligned 🤷‍♀️ , which i know they are because all but one are jarheads.

He’s asking how young the girls in space are, and they’re thinking about all of the Sci-Fi movies where the Earth blows up and astronauts have to watch it go.
