Pistachio ice cream was never red afaik, just the plain/salted nuts in shell. They also used to be way more expensive, so I only remember seeing them a couple times. I mostly just remember the color of my fingers after eating them.

Technology@lemmy.world•The U.S. spent $30 billion to ditch textbooks for laptops and tablets: The result is the first generation less cognitively capable than their parentsEnglish
31·21 hours agoEvery generation worries about the new one, but they haven’t actually had cause in the past.

3·21 hours agoIn the US at least, you might not convince people. I think every parent thinking about it imagines their child calling them during a school shooting to say I love you one last time.

3·21 hours agoThat’s more worthy of respect than someone who doesn’t admit that capitalism affects our education system
It’s also about ten years out of date, 25 year olds today probably wouldn’t recognize this
I always just assumed it was hard for the rest of your penis’ life, and after a certain point without adequate blood flow…

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The witch from Hansel and Gretel is the only person that's allowed to say "Home, sweet home."

You can do that at a regular restaurant, too (without being an asshole), if you’re working on something or an EMT on duty or something like that. Just tell them what’s up ahead of time, don’t do it on a Saturday night if possible, and be prepared to tip a lot on a relatively small bill.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Maybe stories about the fae were long term warnings about AI
2·6 days agoThat’s an interesting theory, though I think the fae fits better with neurodivergence than other hominids. (Incomprehensible, different, follows strict rules, changelings, unpredictable, etc. I’m autistic and have been called all of the above multiple times)
But again, this is just a shower thought- I’m enjoying finding more overlaps, not actually convinced that we somehow had a computing society that disappeared and left no trace except for fairytales.
It’s also just a dumb move to make fun of the thing that they can’t affect. You could talk about the cuisine being substandard or the proprietors being sloppy, but making fun of them for not having food is just stomach turning

Getting paid to hang out with fascists doesn’t actually absolve you of responsibility for hanging out with fascists.
