Self identity doesn’t require external validation. You define yourself through your actions, not by what you say you are. It’s not a sign of disrespect if someone doesn’t use your preferred pronouns, it’s that they’re more concerned with you being a good neighbor or that you use your turn signals or say please and thank you or make eye contact when you’re talking to someone or that you bathe before you go out in public.

The democrats are facing one of the greatest challenges we’ve ever had in this country. They need to find a way to push back against the influence of propaganda, to rebuild trust in institutions, to decide how to address a conservative supreme court, to decide when, if, and how to re-fund the USAID and other government programs and agencies, to rebuild alliances with our allies… And you want them to be the party of pronouns? That’s just the problem. They want to be the party of pronouns because they don’t seem to have any idea how to address the myriad of issues they should be focusing on.

Because there’s a lot more important stuff to worry about than someone’s fucking pronouns.

The news is actually about the Democrats complete inability to counter this narrative from a psychological perspective. The introduction of doubt is a propaganda technique that is well known and there are ways to lessen its impact. Yet I see absolutely no democrats mounting a response.

Another example is when Hegseth made all the generals come to Washington, in person, to dress them down, or to rename the Department of Defense to the Department of War, or to stop the promotion of women to higher ranks. Not only does it tie in nicely with the incompetence of the administration, because, what is the need for thinking through things or considering the consequences of actions when all you need is might, but it also serves as a distraction to the dangers happening behind the scenes like Russell Vought dismantling the federal government or the unimpeded creation of the surveillance state or the rise of unelected oligarchs who have far too much influence on society. And don’t even get me started about the complete inability of the democrats to meet this moment.
