  • I don’t understand this hate just because musk came out as a Nazi.

The cars were awful even before all of this, you should have already not been buying them. To get them repaired you have to take them to an authorised dealer which is basically just them, and they will charge you on obscene amount of money to replace the door handles or something, add onto that poor quality control and a prevalence to put everything behind a paywall and you’ve got a terrible value product on your hands.

I get the the some capitalist reason for this but what’s the actual justification given for that? My house was built before the invention of indoor plumbing and it seems to be going ok. Admittedly they didn’t use plywood and the occasional nail as the primary building material so perhaps that has something to do with it.

Americans need to learn about the concept of mixed use. The suburbs are awful because they’re out in the middle of nowhere. They’re always built in fields surrounded by other fields and with a big wide highway connecting them to, eventually the local city, but only have to passing through several industrial estates and a retail park.

Or you could just build your housing and your business right next to each other so people don’t have to drive anywhere.

But if you actually suggested that to someone they’d start going on about some weird conspiracy theory.

  • If you work for a large enough organisation it’s almost impossible to get fired. Microsoft like most organisations almost certainly operate on the PIN system, or something equivalent.

Basically to get fired you have to get yelled at by your manager, then have a documented yelling at from HR, then get another documented yelling at from HR, then get put on report, then fail to improve, and then you’re fired. Each stage has like a 2-month cooldown before the next step.

Start to finish the whole process can take over a year. Most people quit out of boredom before it gets that far. If you are not literally the most incompetent employee in the department you’re probably safe.
