Warré hives are specifically designed to be built with simple tools. I believe a saw and a drill/screwdriver is all you need. Cuts don’t need to be perfectly straight and there is no fine woodworking like you need for Langstroth hives with frames.

I live in the stereotypical part of the US which is all soulless suburbs and people taking kids to school in SUVs. Most people don’t think about food unless they buy it at the grocery and I am a bit of a black sheep where I live for even having a garden

Mushroom hunting; most people think the only mushrooms you find in the woods are magic or poisonous

If you build Warré hives and/or trap your own bees it can be very cheap. Trapping takes patience though and is easier in certain climates.

They do like in that Starfleet Academy episode where they fake a war to satisfy everyone’s honor and just pretend everything is OK
In Luke, Jesus tells his followers to sell off some of their clothes to buy weapons so this is not totally out of the realm of possibility

Who writes these headlines? The point of what happened at CBS was to make it “not fine”

Actually would be a fitting name. Trump’s house is directly in its flight path like a mile from the end of the runway. That’s a big part of the reason he was able to buy it: no one else was dumb enough to.
Of course in Trump fashion he bought the asset with the glaring unfixable problem and then immediately started a long string of lawsuits against the airport.
A minor conspiracy theory is that he wanted to be President so the airport would finally stop flying planes over his house every day.

I’d just point out that now might be a good time to add a whole-house surge arrester and/or get a bunch of new surge arresting power strips for your hardware. They have a useful life measured in joules dissipated so replace them if they’re old too or your cheap RAM (among other things) may let out the magic smoke one day.
Hate to burst your bubble here, but there are two major ways to take people’s paid-off homes that I can think of just off the top of my head.
Unpaid property taxes can force a foreclosure
In all US states except Florida your home can be forced to be sold in order to satisfy a debt (like medical debt for example)
There are other ways you can lose your paid-off home as well:
It is destroyed in a natural disaster in a place where it is difficult or impossible to get insurnace (Florida/California etc) and you can’t afford to rebuild
You need expensive end-of-life care and you have to sell your home to pay for that
I’m sure there are a few others
