My friends got a funnier version of this. The local elementary school has a service that translates automated phone messages for parents into any language.

She’s bilingual, but her mother only speaks Russian and shes been teaching the kids Russian. So she gets each message, 2x, once in english, and once in Russian. But, whenever the system hits a loan word, or word that is the same in both languages, (superintendent was the word it hit when I was driving with her thw other day)

it gets derailed, and finishes in english with a really over the top Russian accent.

Not the same Russian voice mind you, it switched from a woman speeking fairly fast to a man speaking english slowly and angrily, with a Russian accent, like it was trained off of cold war movie 'Soviets or something.

My friends mom has been trying the opposite- shes trying to avoid buying any plastic packaged food. Not so much out of concern for microplastics, but as a way to reduce her environmental impact.

Its also helped her eat much healthier- most candy is out, all her veggies are fresh instead of frozen, fresh meats instead of prepackaged ones, etc.

Made me think of the KMFDM line ‘our music is sampled, its totally fake. its done my machines Cause they dont make mistakes!’

For a while, I was trying to start all my comments with things like 'to add… ’ or, ‘just to clarify…’ if I was agreeing but context pr more info or whatever

etc since it seems like the default is to assume any response to a comment is conflict / disagreement.

So if an article refered to ‘in the 36 states’ would you what country theyre talking about off the top of your head?

There are plenty of complains of the web being US-centric, that i think its perfectly fair to state, and not expect everyone from every country to know how many states, just because its America.

Generally, when looking at a vertical representation of horizontal space, we think of the top as further away from the viewer, and the bottom as closest (think the graphics on your stove letting you know which know goes to which burner… the back burners are the top ones, and the fronts are the bottom.

The only reason to have the faucet appear as closer and ypur hands as farther away is to intentionally make it loom dirty…

…Unless this graphic is telling you to stand on the far side of the basin and wash someone else’s hands for them.

Pretty sure I saw that same design more than a decade ago tho.

I have one cabinet with matching sets of wine glasses, tumblers, Collins, 4 martinis. Also all the matching sets of dansk plates, bowls etc.

Then theres another on the other side with all the mismatched glasses, branded pints, plastic cups, kids cup Disney jam jar cups, etc, and random plates and bowls and stuff.

Next step is for someone makes a version that hijacks the Bluetooth headphones and makes them play a loud shrill noise that makes the glasses too uncomfortable to wear in your pressence.

And I think it just means anyone deciding to commit assault just also steals/ destroys the victims phone and glasses as a default

I hope in 10 years we find out shes secretly a cyborg and meant that litterally, the prototype chip is on (in) her shoulder.
