Technology@lemmy.world•Utah first state to hold websites liable for users who mask their location with VPNs — law goes into effect, designed to prevent bypassing age checksEnglish
9·10 days agoYeah, I was wondering how on earth this would work. If my organization doesn’t operate or host in Utah and they file suit against me why wouldn’t I tell them to pound sand?

9·20 days agoWhat if you run the grift for a while then fully expose it was a scam and donate all the money to progressive causes, causing losers to hesitate engaging with or donating to right-wing causes again? Temporary and long term gain. That said, I have not thought this through for any longer than it took me to type it.

7·1 month agoI came here to post this! Nicely done.
I’ve been noticing a lot of X-Files posts lately, is there a revival or reboot going on or something?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a TV series that you really, really liked and would enthusiastically recommend?
4·2 months agoThe showrunners had said from the very beginning they had the outline and knew how long it would go. (Also the end of this interview more recently.)
Producers don’t sign checks for shows that expensive without knowing what they’re signing up for.
I’d also say the regardless of debates on the quality (seems like audiences split pretty hard after S1), the general direction of the story was extremely clear and the entire inversion arc was almost complete. Anyway, regardless of if it were good or not, being robbed of a conclusion of any kind is infuriating.

6·2 months agoAnd the fact that HBO canceled it one measly season away from being about to finish the story. I’ll never pay a cent for HBO again.
I swear to fucking god, I must be the only person alive who’s never had any issues playing any game I wanted to on a Mac. You know there’s fucking ways to accomplish this shit right??

1·3 months agoI hope the detached nacelles go the way of the S1 Discovery Klingons. They just look so goofy.
Yeah to say nothing about detached hulls! Like what’s with the Intrepid hulls also being detached and floaty? Seems like a system where you have to rely on transporters (I’m assuming?) to get between parts of the ship isn’t great fault tolerance in the event of something going wrong.
Detached shenanigans aside, I definitely didn’t mind how Athena ‘folded her wings’ after coming out of warp, that was badass!

1·3 months agoMan, those scenes with Braka and Ake were really something. Wasn’t sure how I was going to like Giamatti in this series but I’m kinda digging him.
