After the wave of newcomers lowered lemmy started to have some “weekly” phases where other memes became the meta like the german pedalo or moths and many others.

thats so easy to understand that i saved it (i swear i will use it when i remember)

apart from the normal ones: balls/flying objects above the size and weight of a badminton ball.
Its because at every opportunity someone accidentally threw a ball into my face.
It got to panic attacks after a shoe landed in my face.

The fear got to the level i can only get to close proximity of a sport ball if i know the intent of balldirection is opposite of where im standing (its possible for others to kick a ball to a goal but not to kick it back, they would need to carry it). Else i dont even visit very ball sporty places

it felt very supporting when lemmy started the moth meme wave the moment i started having them as a special interest (a tame special interest where i less do research and meme more)

maybe try asking if she trusts your (and your kids) judgement, if she says yes follow up with the compliment
If she says no maybe try to direct it like everything you say is wrong and then give a very obvious “anti-compliment”

It should at least give a new reaction

i know exactly what you mean. Ive indoctrinated myself with concepts such as human rights, privacy and linux.
Im such a nuisance to the people around me, especially with privacy as a lot feel like they have no chance and got used to it
(i try to limit the annoying to useful stuff so they are less annoyed and i can influence them more later)
