Same. I know two: Markiplier, because of the Iron Lung movie, and Mr. Beast, because of all the controversies around his food packs, mistrearment of employers, etc. I never watched any of their videos.
I watch 0 of these, and only recognize 2 names because I know other people watch them.

I am subscribed to neither of these people and it is for the better.

I only watch PUBG Mobile streamers becasue I play that game. I am not sure about watching people play games that I dont play. They must have super entertaining personalities…
I like watching OboeShoesGames sometimes because he plays trash i wouldn’t ever touch or pay for, and makes it fun. Other than that i did it like you but for League of Legends, and the occasional Minecraft Direwolf20 binge when i fire up Minecraft once again

Yeah, I think it was slowbeef if my memory isn’t failing me. But I think people were doing long plays before then? I could have the two mixed up.
Markiplier did not invent Let’s Plays lol. Let’s Plays were nearly dead by the time he created his channel. He just was the first person to make FNAF Let’s Plays popular (I would assume, I’ve never watched anyone on this list because I’m over the age of 30)
There was a channel called Let’s Play, of rooster teeth/achievement hunter origin. Markiplier didn’t have a channel until 2012. The Let’s play channel first uploaded in Dec 2011.
I would guess he lost a decent amount of subscribers being basically in hibernation making a movie for 2 years.
Do many people prune their subscription list and specifically look for inactive accounts?
I go through my subscriptions every couple of months and take off channels I don’t watch anymore / that don’t exist anymore.
