Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent promoted the idea of the province of Alberta voting to exit Canada as his boss lusts for U.S. expansion.

The top Trump officials leaned into “rumors” during an interview on the right-wing streaming channel Real America’s Voice.

“Alberta’s a natural partner for the U.S. They have great resources. The Albertans are very independent people,” Bessent said. “Rumor is they may have a referendum on whether they want to stay in Canada or not.”

Not being American is one of the deepest, most consistently held parts of Canadian identity. It’s why we are so insistent on spelling colour correctly.

    What a dumbass.

Shit. You’d need to be an absolute fucking moron to want to be part of that dumpster fire.

If Albertans want to leave then pack your bags. The land is staying part of Canada. You can leave.

It’s much more than just an ignorant statement. The US is actively supporting the secessionist movement in Canada. The State Department has met with the leaders if the Alberta secessionist movement in Washington to support them and told them they would immediately recognize Alberta as a country when the time comes. No doubt there is funding flowing to the secessionist movement from the US. Bessent is also not just some innocent guy pushing numbers around for the economy. He admitted to engineering the currency crash in Iran as part of their regime change plan and called it “economic statecraft.”

The US is working to undermine Canadian sovereignty. This is the same bullshit the CIA does around the world, and they’ve been working on it for a while in Alberta.

Why would I want to be a member of a country that for decades has been all “hurr durr don’t tread on me mah guns won’t allow it” and are now currently being tread on and are all “please more treading daddy, i’m too scared to use mah guns”

nah. I don’t want to be that.

Not sure if I’m more annoyed by Bessent for talking shit or by the Daily Beast for calling this merely “tone deaf”.

You have to realize that most of these dipshits are stupid and deliberately ignorant. They just pull stupid shit our of their ass as they wait for the cocaine to take their anus away like their hero trump. Its the goal of all of trumps chumps to have a malfunctioning anus.

EVs in general, as they are now, aren’t a good long term investment. After six years they’ll need a new battery that will cost more than the car is worth, unless there’s some leap forward in battery manufacturing.

Mine is 7 years old and the battery doesn’t need to be replaced. Where did you hear something so stupid from?

There is a lot of misinformation on EVs out there.

Current generation EV batteries are likely good for 500,000 km or more.

But yes, battery tech is improving including some likely big price drops in the medium term. Sodium Ion is going to be a massive leap forward.

But even current EV battery packs do not cost anything close to the price of a new electric car. Replacing the battery packs and getting another 10 years out of a car is already worth it.

The biggest issue is that the tech is improving and prices are dropping. So, you will not want your old car.

Better to lease for the next few years while things mature.
