The only thing Linux did that I don’t agree with was remove people with Russian nationality. I think that was more wrong than them allowing you to put whatever age you want at the beginning of startup.
I will say though that this is not the endgame. Porn sites started out this way too just enter an age and good to go. Eventually, it will be pushed to a point you have to upload ID now that might take years and years but when it happens there will be some distros left that won’t play ball.
If you’re actually trying to spread some sort of awareness by spamming the same comment over and over across the fediverse, then at least post some sources with it.
The CA law is a prompt for self-reported age or birthdate. (1900 Jan 1, obviously.) This is not at all equivalent to “age verification” using ID or face scans.

Cali and Colorado’s laws are worded extremely broadly, so it’s a bit up in the air how it will shake out.
