Mike Collins, a congressman from Georgia, wants to take away commercial driver’s licenses from noncitizens. Over the past 25 years, truckers for his businesses have been involved in crashes that killed five people and injured more than 50 people.
In the US, every time I see any video of a truck crash, there are tons of racist comments about the driver of the truck, who can’t even be seen in most of the videos.
Because, as everyone knows, no white guy has ever caused a truck crash. Ever.
I assume the issue here is that they sit around all day listening to right wing radio.
Yeah, here, I see comments about their footwear or possibly wearing a turban. Oh and none of them can speak English. In fairness, English proficiency is a requirement to get a CDL (commercial driver’s license), and somehow some states did issue CDLs to people who were not proficient in English…but I seriously doubt it’s more than a tiny percentage of drivers that don’t meet the standard.
Where I work we have 20-30 large trucks everyday. 99% of them the driver can’t speak any English. Like at fucking all.
The requirements to speak English to get a CDL is a fucking joke. Always has been.
This is California.
A few days ago we had a oversize flatbed driven by a guy who’s English was so shit we where having a conversation via Google translate on his personal cell phone.
English requirements for basically anything are a fucking joke. Its barely ever enforced to even the absolute bare minimum degree. In my experience.

Yep… Here in Australia, they call them all “Raj”.
Not all of them, but, at least on Facebook, they seem to make us look bad internationally
