I’m Swiss, but I was born and raised in the Gulf states. When I visit Switzerland during the cold season, I immediately become depressed, irritable, and in a bad mood. I prefer the heat 100%. I don’t think I could live in a place with a cold climate and be happy.

    I was raised in Northern US. My ancestry mainly comes from the Mediterranean. I don’t understand why they moved there, because I was a shell of myself for like 6 months of the year.

    I moved to a warmer climate and still can’t function until it hits like 65°F/19°C with sunlight. I can do as low as 70°F/21°C with overcast and rain.

    I also can’t do dry air. I need humidity or my asthma flares up bad. My favorite days are 85°F/29°C+ with overcast drizzle or sunshine and minimal breeze. I can finally breathe and my body stops hurting.

    Quick winter days depress the hell out of me. I need a baseline of 12 hours of sunlight.

    Snow and rain. Love it. Takes all the pressure off of doing anything.

    Long hot summer days also depress the fuck out of me but I can mitigate that a billion different ways.

    Fall days are my comfort zone. I usually feel my best around September through November. The temp goes down. I can still wear shorts but it’s also not mind numbingly hot. My birthday and the holidays fall in that period. Usually the middle of December when it’s cold and dark by 4 my mood goes down.

    Foggy days make me want to carry a machete around and hunt monsters in an abandoned town.

    I love all the weather. The single issue I have is strong wind when I’m home. I live in woods and the wind wrecks the older trees. I’ve already had a 10m upper trunk section destroy my roof a couple of years ago. So I get nervous when the wind is strong.

    Other than that I love being outside regardless of weather. It’s all good.

    I’d consider vitamin D levels as a possible factor. Deficiency can make you feel that kind of bad and it tends to be an issue around this time of year. Less sun exposure chokes off its production and we’ve had a few months to burn through what gets stashed away in warmer times.
