Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•I was on social media before web browsers existed. I am Legion.
751·3 hours agoIt’s surreal to think about how genuinely good Facebook used to be, before they added the algorithm. It made our social lives better instead of replacing them. You could go on Facebook to peruse events in your area, having an idea of who would be there before you went.

2·1 day agoFair enough. I don’t agree with a lot of what you said, but I also didn’t report your post because it feels like maybe it lands in a grey area and perhaps my judgment on this is biased.
As for rule 2, I think the entire point of this rule is that there isn’t a “main” shower thought separate from anything else. The title is the shower thought, and that’s supposed to be the entire post. It seems like people break this rule constantly, but since it’s mostly harmless they’re allowed to do so. I just felt the need to say something.
This idea of “everything is political” is something I vehemently disagree with, and I think people who use this are frequently being disingenuous. They want to break the rules and this argument allows them to do so, and I’ve seen this argument used with blatantly political posts before (I’m not saying yours is blatantly political).
But I also think that sometimes current events are inherently political, or at least they are seen that way, and it seems absurd to stop people from talking about things that are happening in our world every day. I’m torn on this one.

8·1 day agoIt’s amazing how so many people blatantly break the rules of this comm. I’d say it’s most posters.
This breaks rules 2 and 3.
That’s not true at all. The mods did nothing, as usual. It was people who post here that were posting the corn because they’re sick of the politics.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The reason why the US president loves McDonald's so much is simply because he's a world-class narcissist and it sounds like it's named after him. That's it.
12·5 days agoThis post breaks rule 3, please report it.
Yup. This comm is terrible and the mods are useless. They either don’t care or have no idea what a shitpost is.

This poster posts actual shitposts. I only had to scroll through this broken comm for 5 fucking seconds to find an actual shitpost with no agenda.
Bullshit. Fucking bullshit. A genuine shitpost has no agenda other than silly humor. You don’t know what a shitpost is any more than these useless mods.
Only through apathy. If the mods did their fucking jobs and actually made a rule against political posts, and then enforced that rule, we wouldn’t have this problem.
How is this a shitpost? Politicalmemes exists.

17·12 days agoInteresting. I was eating at a restaurant with my mom a few years ago and she accidentally inhaled a piece of food which had the same diameter as her esophagus. It was terrifying. She just pointed at her throat and had this look on her face like she knew she was going to die. She stood up, turned around, and I did what I thought was the heimlich maneuver. I must’ve done it right, or got lucky, but it worked flawlessly. The food came flying out. I guess we’re in that 59%.

Not a shitpost. The political posts in this comm get more upvotes than actual shitposts. I fucking hate it.
The stretched aspect ratio is a nice touch! You are such a boon to this comm : )
