  • Sounds like some All Lives Matter BS.

Some groups, as a whole, are having a way tougher time right now. Yes that includes the white working poor. But LGBTs and PoC’s are literally in fear of an eminent end of their life by violent means. And some of them are also working poor.

Nobody is banging on your door, taking you at gunpoint to a concentration camp god-knows-where, and separate you from your kids. Some of them are even citizens or at least here lawfully. I fear a lot of the undocumented probably have already disappeared forever.

Nobody is actively challenging your right to live because of who you love, or whether or not you sit to pee.

Yeah, all lives matter. Some lives just need a little more attention at the moment.

  • Dude my wife has been wanting to get a gun. I’d talked about it in the past, almost in a hyperbolic way…always to be shot down by her fear of the guns.

But now that I’m thinking about it, I’m scared of having guns in the house.

My youngest is incredibly impulsive. My oldest has high anxiety. I don’t want them in my home, but I’m starting to think we may need one.

Anyway, she went to the range tonight with her brother. She hasn’t shot a gun since she was like 8 (.22 LR). She did alright.

But like you, I’d want to learn (and buy) from professionals. Particularly ones I’m politically aligned with. How the hell can you even tell?

What really dislike about child-free adults…is when they become child-free great-aunts and great-uncles.

They want to spoil the kids as if they are grandparents while also having no idea what kids actually need or want, or what is healthy for them.

And then they ignore the kids parents because they are still the parents aunt/uncle and to them, they are just a kid.

  • It wouldn’t work, at all.

You’ve got USB to db9 serial, to db25 female, back down to db9 serial. At this point, since the chain started life as a USB to serial adapter, this should be a functional serial port.

But then, it gets converted to PS/2 mouse. Then to AT keyboard, then back to PS/2 mouse, before becoming a USB port again.

    That’s not how it works.

You see, he should have just plugged the dongle directly into the usb port on the laptop.

My oldest wanted to learn guitar. So did I. We are taking lessons together.

My youngest loves video games. Highlight of his week is when I can sit down and play with him.

Both my kids love reading and arts and crafts, which my wife also enjoys much more than I do.

Why can’t you and your kids have overlapping interests? When you’re raising the kids, it’s normal for them to be curious about the things you enjoy. Kids hobbies and interests end up overlapping or reflecting their parents more often than the other way round.

My oldest also likes Minecraft. My youngest loves soccer. Neither of us really enjoy either of these things. But we do also enjoy seeing our kids developing interests and personalities of their own. If that means we have to spend an hour a week going to Pee-wee soccer (and, meanwhile, hanging out with other parent friends), so be it.
